Montour Man Killed in Early Morning Single-Vehicle Crash on Mitchell Hollow Road

MONTOUR, N.Y. — A 35-year-old man from Montour was killed early Tuesday morning after his vehicle left the roadway in a crash on Mitchell Hollow Road, according to the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 5:36 a.m., where they found a 2014 Honda off the road. The driver and sole occupant, Thomas Gaylor, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Schuyler County Coroner’s Office.

Preliminary Investigation

Investigators have determined that speed was a contributing factor in the crash, though it remains unclear whether other factors, such as road conditions or visibility, played a role. No other vehicles were involved, and authorities have not reported any signs of impairment.
